Industrial Court of Uganda holds General Staff Meeting 2024.
The Industrial Court of Uganda held its quarterly general staff meeting in Kampala on
19th January 2024. The meeting was chaired by the Head Judge, the Hon. Lady Justice
Linda Lillian Tumusime Mugisha. In her opening remarks, the Lord Chair
congratulated the Registrar, Her Worship Sylvia Nabaggala, who had been in an acting
capacity since 2014, upon her appointment as Substantive Registrar of the Court. The
Registrar received special commendations for her exceptional contributions and
outstanding commitment to the Court. Her Lordship also thanked his Lordship Justice
Anthony Wabwire for his support in managing the Court.
During the meeting, it was noted that 2024 represented 10 years since the re-
establishment of the Court. It was also reported that the Court’s strategic plan had been
developed and aligned to the National Development Plan(NDP). Members of staff
presented their individual work plans, detailing their achievements and challenges
during the calendar year 2023. Staff were commended for aligning their key outputs to
the Court’s strategic plan and for a good customer care culture and for executing duties
well amidst many challenges.
The team efforts in the successful conclusion of regional circuits in Jinja, Lira, and
Mbarara were applauded. The meeting noted the importance of collaboration and
expressed gratitude to its partners, including the International Labour Organisation
(ILO), the Justice Law and Order Sector (JLOS), and the Uganda Legal Information
Institute (ULII). The partnerships played a pivotal role in promoting and supporting
the Court in promoting labour standards in Uganda in 2023
The meeting closed with a commitment to fostering a culture of excellence in
delivery of labour justice.
